An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945. This book was first published in 2001 by John Scott Slough in paperback. John is a family friend, and I know firsthand the effort and care he put into this project. This is the deluxe second printing from 2004, featuring a hard linen cover, and gold leaf lettering on cover and spine (first printing is paperback)...

This offering is a fine pair of menuki featuring a monkey riding a horse on one and the other looks to be a monkey chasing a horse, attempting to mount. There looks to be just a bit of smoothing in a tiny spot of one horse's leg. Other then that condition is terrific and detail is fine right down to the horses' abumi and even the braiding on the harnesses.

This offering is a finely made basket, I believe it is Papago. It has a unique star shaped rim woven into place at five points. No noticable damage, but does show its age. Maximum width including the rim is just under 15cm, not including the rim it is 12cm. A basket with character.

This is a very special piece with a rich history. I have had this in my personal collection for many years now. It started out as an American Revolution horseman saber. A nearly identical sword is pictured on page 164 of George C Neumann's important book "Swords & Blad3es of the American Revolution" (third edition, October 1991). During the Civil War a Confederate soldier had it either cut down or remounted to a bowie knife. Its current blade length is just under 17 inches...

This is the soft cover first edition from 1979. Written by the highly respected Thomas M. Johnson, this is one of the early collecting classics and is a nice, small size for carrying with you. It is in very good shape with minor age showing. A hard to find book.
