Interesting dog tag with what looks like some sort of battle damage. Must have been unpleasant for the fellow wearing it at the time. Probably 8th battery 161 Artillery regiment with 178 being the soldiers number. Interesting piece.

Very nice pair of 18 pounder shell casings showing very nicely done portraits of a French officer and wife (?). The piece with the officer has a banner at the bottom reading SOUVENIR DELA GUERRE 1914. The bottom has many different markings but probably most significantly is dated 1917, marked as an 18 pounder and marked by the firm P.B&Co. The casing with the young lady reads SOUVINIR DELA GUERRE 1918, is also marked as an 18 pounder but dated 1916 and made by ALCO. Each is just under 12 inches ...

Very interesting and unique desktop Hitler Youth miniature flag and pole. Triangular HJ pennant measures about 9x9x7 inches. Attached are 5 little rings which attach to five slightly larger (But still tiny) rings on the pole. The pole is about5 23.5 inches high. The metal looks to be a nicely patinated tin. The base is bottom marked O.H. LAGERSTEDT A.-B. ESKILSTUNA. The pole was definitely made specifically as a miniature flag pole with an unmistakable finial and the two split posts towards the ...

Historically significant mug from the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement talks held in the abandoned Korean village of Panmunjom. United Nations met with North Korean and Chinese officials here to iron out a cease fire agreement. The cup has the seal of the United Nations Command Armistice Commission below which is impressed JSA PAN MUN JOM KOREA. JSA remains the Joint Security Area and remains the only place where North Korean and UN forces coexist and as one might imagine has been the scene of mu...

This is a very cool and very rare summer weight sleeve eagle with the Saarbr├╝cken city name. Unfortunately there is a spot of damage at the 10 o'clock edge position. Priced accordingly; Rare patch.

Nice single decal transitional helmet. Very typical signs of period use with decent amount of WWII green overpaint. Wear to decal matches the rest of the helmet well. Chinstrap has been repaired as shown in last photo. Soldier's name is written on liner. I can't make it out but it does look like nice, old style script. No markings visible due to surface wear on paint. Somewhere along the way a previous owner gave it a clear coat to prevent further loss of paint. Probably not the greatest idea bu...

Absolutely top notch NCO visor cap by a top notch maker. The shape is solid, the fabric is flawless. The only three points that I can consider even minor condition points condition are on the last three attached images; two small tears on the sweatband and a spot on the undercoating of the visor where finger contact has rubbed the tan finish a bit thin. Pekuros is a high end maker and their "Stirndruckfrei" advertises a nice snug fit. A cap that would fit in the most advanced collection.

This piece I believe to be a hagi-yaki mizuzashi. The glaze color and incised decoration shows a strong Korean influence owed to the Korean pottery tradition brought to Japan during the early 17th century occupation of Korea by the forces of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The big (?) handles and knop (?) top are design elements often seen on chirashi. This particular form, however, does appear to be a mizuzashi (Water vessel used in the Tea Ceremony). The speckled, coarse body looks like Hagi clay. After s...

Nice German trench art type sweetheart bracelet featuring 1914 Iron Cross. Bracelet is made out of a piece of a shell casing but well made with a hinge crisply working catch. Perhaps best of all is the catch plate which bears the engraving: S/L. SCHWESTER ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DEN FELDZUG 1914/15 HERBERT HEINMUTH which basically says this is a present for his sister commemorating the campaign of 1914 to 1915. Early on when war still seemed glorious and the young men were still innocent. Lovely piece...

Very interesting paperweight that a lieutenant or one of his family members had made to celebrate his winning of the Iron Cross First Class. The EK1 was, of course, a prestigious valor award and earning this medal would likely be a highlight in a soldier's life. The bulk of this paperweight is the clear plastic composite in which we often see old coins or similar mementos suspended. On the bottom is what appears to be the newspaper announcement of the award given to Leutnant d. Res (Lieutenant o...

Very tastefully executed katana tsuba showing a Dragon in the Clouds motif. Attractive dragon with very fine detail contrasts very nicely with the plain surface of the majority of the tsuba. The front shows the dragon's head, one leg and tail. The reverse shows just one small body segment and about an inch away from that just two toes, supporting the idea the sometimes less is more. Large size measures 8.5cm from top to bottom, 8.0cm from left to right, about 4.5mm thick and weighs just about 5....

Very cool document with signatures from both Benito Mussolini and Victor Emmanuel III who of course was the King of Italy before and during the war. The letterhead to the document also adds the title IMPERATORE D'ETIOPIA as the Italians were very proud of this conquest as they began to flex their muscles in the colonial arena. Another point of interest are the stamps on the reverse. Both include the year date 1938 but the Fascists also started counting years again from the March On Rome. The XVI...

Very nice 40 year faithful service for civil service. Condition is excellent throughout. One side of the pin has a popped stitch. This is an easy fix if someone wants to do it but medal displays well as is. Nice example.

Attractive American M1912 officer's cap. Nice clean cap with with good shape and a nice, period used look. Beside the wearer's left ear is a stretch of about 3 inches where the stitching is missing along the sweatband. This is not noticeable unless pulled at because the cap keeps its shape very crisply (Image 7). The maker logo in the silk lining is blurred and not readable (Image 4). Also, from left to right along the lining and just under the logo is some separation from solid use (Image 5). U...

First Class Eastern People award in silver with original hinged award box. Both the medal and the impressed likeness on the top of the box are the variant without swords which are a good bit scarcer then the combatant version with swords. Condition is solid throughout as per images and the silver wash on the obverse of the medal remains solid. The back of the hinged pin is hallmarked 100 for the firm Rudolf Wachtler, Mittweida. Nice, hard to find cased medal.
