Very interesting travel and tourism book for Germany for the 1935 year produced by the German America Line of cruise ships. Unfortunately it starts at page 19 so the beginning is a casualty of time. What remains is a fascinating write up of tourism points of interest in Germany, many period advertisements etc. The advertisements are very cool and offer a feel for prewar Germany. The inside of the rear cover is a large ad for the 1936 Olympics which was obviously a big deal for Germany. Also a ni...

After the first disastrous winter on the Eastern Front the Germans realized that had to quickly develop better cold weather gear. This style of fur lined cap was popular with German soldiers in Russia. This has field grey wool construction with mottled rabbit fur lining. The front, ear flaps and rear neck all can fold down and can be held in place with the string tie. I am not going to go through the process of untying and retying but the next to last photo can offer an idea of what this looks l...

This is a hard to find Japanese army cold weather or arctic cap. As most of their operations were in warm areas these are not too common. This one is also in superb condition and would be nearly impossible to improve on. The fabric is clean and unstained. Every button and every loop to attach to the respective buttons is present. No loose threads, stains or anything of the sort throughout. Probably the best detail is that even the fur is clean and in healthy shape. Fur with this kind of age is u...

Nice small size pennant. At about 32 inches along the long sides this is a perfect small size for display purposes and a nice twist on the usual rectangle. One side is nice and clean. the other side has a few pen marks on the white disc. Apparently the last owner had kids that were even worse then mine. Nice flag priced right.

Really terrific lot belonging to an early panzer man, the sort of thing that doesn't come along very often. First a used postcard showing the same early model tank as is being used by the unit in question. Then there are 10 loose photos, all except for two having descriptions on the back in the same hand. With the exception of the very fine portrait photo, all are on Agfo-Lupex or Agfo-Brovira stock and all are full of men in the early panzer berets and black uniforms. Some show signs of having ...

Very interesting flag. Large building sized flag but not obnoxiously large. Top portion is a square party flag about 56x56 inches. One half of this (Two sided flag so could be right or left) has the top of a long tapered tail attached. This tale stretches for about 105 inches. I would imagine there would be another mirror image pennant and the two bordered a large doorway or archway. Stamped on the disc is "Eigentum der Stadt Trier". Trier is a lovely city with impressive Roman ruins and a very ...

Very interesting French flag that I assume is a regimental flag as the three barred symbols toward the end can't, in my eyes, be anything besides battalion colors. As there are very few French flags remaining from the war (A side effect of being out of the war very early and very quickly) there is little to compare this to but the construction is absolutely typical of WWII era with type of grommets used, type of fringe and how the sewing is executed. The silver fringe is beautifully made and nic...

Terrific set of unissued Luftwaffe officer collar tabs still with factory tie connecting them at bottom corner. Perfect bullion and nice orange felt representing signals branch. Three gulls, oak leaves and aluminum braid trim represent rank of Hauptmann or Captain. Really nice set without a lick of damage.

Very high quality full dress tunic for Japanese naval captain. Lovely dark blue shell with bullion work around the color that is just out of this world. There is one small snag in the bullion but almost impossible to see with all the activity. None of the buttons look to be reattached nor does there seem to be any repairs. The inside is made of a high quality quilted fabric that is very clean and pleasantly pliable. There a couple of tine rub holes on the inside lining but truly not a big deal a...

This is a scarce and highly deirable pair of collar tabs. Saar and Prag were the two motor formations that were allowed to have the full name of their location on their collar tabs. This pair is from Motorsturm 14 of Motorstandarte Saar. The rank is Sturmfuhrer which is the lowest officer rank on the NSKK scale. I believe this particular unit with others were combined to form the motorized group Westmark. Such NSKK units were basically training grounds in which the panzer and motorized formation...

Scarce and interesting membership pin for the RDK organization. Very nice, high quality enamel with the red showing that nice pigskin pattern beneath the red field. Reichsbund der Kinderreichen was an organization encouraging large families and translates to something like the Reich's Organization for Families Rich in Children. The pin shows a strong looking eagle with wings protecting five young fledglings. Maker marked and Ges Gesch. Cool pin.

Very nice cufftitle of EM or NCO style. This one is for Geschwader Lutzow. This unit did not actually exist but there are known period examples such as this one. Apparently there was a propaganda film made involving a fictitious unit with this name. I have seen one authority express the opinion that some of these were made by one of the period insignia firms but that it was used in conjunction with the film as a movie prop or something of the sort. So this cufftitle has the odd status of being o...

Nice, unissued gas mask canister with cardboard wrap. I have a few of these so this exact example is likely not what will be received but they are all basically the same. The cardboard wrap was not meant as a permanent addition and tend to unglue so these may not be attached when received but can probably be reglued. Nice piece of equipment priced right.
