Very nice private purchase Iron Cross First Class. Properly marked 107 on the fat part of the pin for Carl Wild. Still shows much of original silver wash with gentle aging. The black core could use a spot of oil but is otherwise undamaged. Overall a very nice example by a relatively uncommon maker.

Very interesting stock certificate. Dated Sept 16, 1947 this certificate is for 100 shares of Tucker Corporation stock. Tucker, of course, produced what became known as the Tucker Torpedo. After producing something like 58 cars the company was wrapped up in a stock related scandal which finished off the corporation. I have read that it was actually a great car. This is one of those ill-fated stock certificates. Condition is excellent with nice, clean coloring...

This looks to be a volunteer application to join the Wehrmacht but most of the attached papers seem to be regarding Luftwaffe service. I assume this means the same standard application was used by both. 12 page packet. The first page has some chipping on the left margin but no text is lost. The following pages all seem to be fine. I guess if you volunteered for te Luftwaffe you might not get pressed into the army and sent to the Ukraine with a rifle. Interesting document.

Nice set of three Luftwaffe award documents. All are to Unteroffizier Walter Flanz of Flakregiment 24. The Eastern Front medal (AKA Frozen Flesh Medal) was awarded August 5, 1942. Iron Cross Second Class was awarded July 4, 1944. The Flak Badge was awarded July 10, 1942. All three documents were folded in half, otherwise they are very clean, crisp with reasonably sharp corners. Nice set.

Very cool stickpin from the group Antifaschistische Aktion. This group existed in a very small window from 1932 to 1933. They were created as an armed militant wing of the German Communist Party specifically to combat the SA and other Nazi paramilitary groups. Oh, the good old street fighting days. This stickpin is from that brief one year window. German Communist material was generally disposed of as it was almost a certain concentration camp visit if one was found with it...

Super interesting and scarce Weimar era German Communist pin. Front shows a sailor on a red background waving a banner with longitude and latitude lines which seems to represent Communism spreading across the globe. The lettering reads "Sei bereit" or "Was ready". This pin seems to be a tribute to the German navy sailors who were the first to rebel and declare a Communist revolution. Pin assembly on reverse is marked Ges Gesch indicating this was made in Germany...

Rare German tinnie for the 1933 Weltspartakiade Moskau games which was a communist worker's version of the Olympics. The name itself was a reference to Spartacus who was considered to represent the proletariat influence in Rome.Really a bunch of hogwash but this pin is interesting because this was after the Nazi rise to power when such Communist activities were verboten. Even more interesting, the pin is GES GESCH marked so it was made in Germany...

This might be the greatest country on earth but that does not mean we don't periodically do stupid things. For example, Prohibition which made recreational alcohol consumption illegal thus opening the door for the antics of guys like Al Capone. It rarely works out when one tries to impose their morality on others. Prohibition began in 1920. This medal is for a delegate to the Atlantic City NJ Prohibition National Convention of 1912 when this movement was gathering steam...

Mirax Unistream chemical can. Neat piece is marked for US Army Air Corps which dates it to WWII. I have no idea what this product was but has the look of some sort of flight necessity. The amount of different "stuff" needed in some of those bombers was prodigious. Good piece to add to a flight related collection.

Very nice webbed K98 bayonet frog for tropical use. Condition is just about perfect with pigskin leather tab under the restraining strap to prevent rubbing. These never held maker marks well but there is just a ghost of a maker mark on the reverse (See last photo). Tropical gear is getting difficult to find.

Minty and unissued awards are always nice but sometimes a piece like this can really tell us a story. This is an Iron Cross First Class that is a field upgrade from a second class. This is a known practice and this one is particularly nice as the solder job clearly has age appropriate to the time in which this would have been done. The suspension ring on the top has been removed and smoothed off as well...

Very cool set of German motorcycle goggles. I have seen loose goggles before but never with the original pouch. Marked BWZ 40 (1940), the pouch has a pocket on each side and a sewn on soft cloth for cleaning on each side. There is a set of darkened goggles and a set of clear goggles. This is from a veteran estate and the set comes with the label from when they were sent home from Lt. Hoose...

Japanese Type 95 Sight, used on the famous Aichi D3A “VAL” Dive Bomber. Mounted on the front of the aircraft, just forward of the cockpit windscreen, and used to line up the target for dive-bombing. Another version of the Type-95 sight was manufactured with a cross hair reticule for use as a machine gun sight on fighter aircraft. A groove inside the front of the tube allowed the cross hair reticule to be mounted when the sight was used as a machine gun sight. The front of the sight was prote...

Gorgeous First Class war merit cross in box. Early quality tombac example with nice finish to front that really catches light and shows itself well. Maker marked 62 which matches the maker name on the case Kerbach & Oesterhelt Dresden A1. Box is generally in very good condition with no damage. The War Merit cross embossed relief on the top is a little smoothed off, otherwise a very nice box. This medal really gives a good idea of what they looked like at the time when glittery and shiny. It is h...
