SA Honor Dagger Later RZM Configuration - WWII German
Nice, honest example of a later SA Honor dagger. While the early damascus type is certainly prettier, this plain blade RZM version is actually far scarcer as Victor Lutze was well known to give these only to high ranking and notable personalities while Ernst Rohm was quite liberal in giving out Honor Daggers. This is a nice, honest example. Crossguards are embellished with oakleaves and the lower is internally marked H. The nut is made special for this piece with a funnel shaped bottom. Crossguards were silver plated but the inside brass is now showing through liberally. Handle has the typical age wear and one significant chip at the bottom and some chipping at the top See photos). Blade is very nice with the usual tiny surface abrasions. Cross graining is evident along with the maker code RZM M7/8 for Eduard Gembruch. The upper scabbard fitting is real silver, I would suppose so it could accept a dedication or personalization. The lower fitting is the usual RZM plated variety. The scabbard paint appears original and is in excellent shape. Although scarcer then the early damascus Honour Daggers this offering is about 1/5 the price. Nice, rare dagger.
