Imperial German Kindersabel or Toy Sword w Superb Tag
Early German kids' sword, somewhere between a kindersabel anda toy. I\When I saw this shopping I just fell in love with the tag. It is just under 5x5 inches at its widest and has a surprising amount of paint left. The maker name Avant-garde is written across the top. Below that is a neat picture of a heavy cavalry soldier brandishing a sword (Just like the attached toy) and charging a firing infantryman in front of a cannon emplacement. There is also the usual battlefield litter; sword, drum, rifle, pack. I enjoy the unusual and this tag is just wonderful. Written in the bottom left is the term "Ges Gesch" (A German copyright term I have seen on items as far back as the late 1800's right through WWII). Written in the bottom right corner is "Germany" which suggests that at least some of these toys were meant for export. The sword is nothing special but good enough for a kid; Black painted wood handle and a gold finish to the scabbard. Decent condition as shown in photos. Very interesting item.
