| Very nice late war M42 steel combat helmet. Skirt is marked in rear Hkp64 with lot number 4327. hkp is the code that Sachsishe Emaillerwerke, Lauter switched to in 1943 (Former code SE). Original finish is in very good shape throughout (See photos); Very nice on the outside, extremely nice and buttery smooth on the inside. Pigskin liner has a faded 59 size stamp on the outside. Most interestingly, though, it is stamped on the inside in large letters B 58II 44. Not sure what the letters mean but obviously the size is again 58 and 44 would be the year 1944, again consistent with late war construction of the helmet in general. This is by no mean a fancy helmet but I have taken a liking to it as it sort of tells its own story. | ||||||||||
