Hensoldt Wetzlar 10x50 Binoculars -WWII DAK Sand Yellow
Terrific set of sand yellow DAK binoculars. Dialyt 10x50 Hensoldt Wetzlar are generally thought to be popular with tank commanders. The early serial number 21933 would put this set early in the war and very likely in the thick of the North Africa fighting with the Afrika Korps. Binoculars themselves are in great shape with near perfect paint. The leather strap is still there and actually quite strong but is significantly weathered to a solid state of "Ugly". The war period case is marked bmj 1944 and is in great condition as well. The loop and post catch works fine. The spring is housed in a clip reading frn42; This was a firm who made nothing but spring clips (Apparantly they knew their job as this one still works fine). The belt loop on the reverse is in great shape and the swiveling buckles on the side work fine although the shoulder strap is missing. While the case is a bit later then the binoculars they were likely put together during the war. While care would have been taken in handling the binoculars the case was probably beat around pretty solidly and likely would need replacing. Really a nice overall set. If only it cold tell us what it saw.
