KDF Tinnie ATLANTIKFAHRTEN 1937-1938 WWII - Scarce
Very hard to find KDF tinnie. Kraft Durch Freude was a state run recreational organization designed to give working families the opportunity to take vacations they would not normally be able to afford. The not so bad plan was to raise the moral of German workers but also to show the outside world how happy the new German workers were who were bringing Germany out of its post WWII depression. The Atlantikfahrten (Atlantic crossing) were cruises offered on board the Oceana which was owned by the KDF. This pin represents the last year for these cruises as the ship was sold to the DAF in 1938. This is a rare tinnie but the year designation 1937-1938 is particularly hard to find. Black plastic with white recessed details and lettering. Some rusting on the pin which I don't think is a big deal and looks better then the images attached. Really a cool item with an interesting history.
