WWII German army dagger with blade dedication reading "I J.R. DEM SIEGERS 26 MAI 40". The 1st Jaeger Regiment was the first unit into Paris when the city, declared an open city, was occupied on May 26, 1940. Many of the officers of that unit had their daggers dedicated in honor of the ocassion which was an honor for the unit. It has been a long time since I have seen one but this one just fell out of the woodwork. Blade rates excellent with washer still inplace. Early handle fittings are patinated but show no damage or rust and are quite pleasing as they are. Scabbard is excellent with no dents and only very minor age wear. Knot cord has some fraying but still strong. Acorn and braided stem are perfect. Hangers are intact and are the deluxe version. Clip, both clip attachments and both ring hooks are all DRGM marked and springs were on the hooks. Some wear to the bullion straps and felt backing but still strong and attractive. A rare dagger with some nice extras.
