Welcome!
2 volumes of The Philistine, A Periodical of Protest. These little (4 1/2 x 6) periodicals were "Printed Every Little While for the Society of the Philistines and Published by Them Monthly." They were written by Elbert Hubbard as a vehicle for communicating his personal philosophy. He was passionately patriotic, strongly pro-business, a marketing innovator and a proponent of woman's suffrage. Scattered throughout each issue are ads for cars, pianos, glassware, typewriters and other products, most emphasizing quality and fine workmanship. In addition there are ads for various products
March 1901 and December 1901. The covers on these two are torn on the spine and one up the front. There is some foxing on the inside pages, text is legible and pages firmly attached to spine. Great ads for Pierce Cycles, Scientific Physical Culture, Michigan Central, John W Merrian # Co "segars", Dorflinger, and many more.
