See picture to appreciate! This piece has a bit of roughness on the tip of its tale which I believe is natural to the item. It can stand up on its hind legs and tail for balance or be set down in a 4-legged running position. Almost a unicorn form. Graceful horse in full out running position. This unique netsuke depicts two men playing the game of Go. It is wonderful subject matter. What brings it into the 20th century is the more modern dress of the players. One is bearded and wearing what appears to be eyeglasses/sunglasses. Beautifully executed.

This display or shadowbox is approximately 3'6" x 2'6" and is quite heavy for its size. The framework is wood and is adorned with added carved and gilded features of drapes. The front edge is bordered in small square (1") mirror tiles. The box is about 5" deep and has an interesting array of shelves. It is mirror backed. This exceptional and rare millefiori lamp is in excellent condition. It measures 12" tall. Vintage wiring appears to be fine but we always recommend checking with an electrician before using old electrical appliances. Dating of "pre-1960" is very conservative. It is either pre-WWII and of much older vintage or just after WWII putting it in the late 40's early 50's when Italy began again to produce exceptional millefiori objects.
