This one looks just like tortoise shell but is burled wood. Of 20th century manufacture (based on hinges and overall appearance). Beautiful though. Would make a fabulous gift for either a man or woman.
In excellent condition, this square trinket box is of very light burled wood with dovetailed, hidden hinges and self-lip on lid. Wonderful. Usually you see the cigarette cases, but not boxes like this one. Dimensions on photo.
