This 19th century bowl is exquisitely molded and beautifully decorated. Marked in blue under the glaze (Luneville France) it also seems to have a pattern name that is either Kali or Kale with an accent over the last "e". It is a chinoisserie decoration in very flow-bluey color along with some rust/orange and some gold lustre. The body of the piece is molded with a very nice loose basketweave pattern towards the bottom and a draped panel on the upper half.

The back side has several problems - spiderwebbing on the center base and two chips - one small and one larger. Neither can be see ...click for details

Handpainted birds and flowers in the daintiest of pastel colors embellish this gorgeous 10" tall vase. The top rim is encircled by a 1 1/2-2" dark band. I do not know what the writing on the bottom means (pictures to be added) but based on experience I expect that these are at least 100 years old and that the artist's identity is probably revealed in the writing on the bottom. The inside is solid white with a glossy glazed finish. The exterior is matte and feels very satiny. The fi ...click for details
