Very Large Herend Hungary Figurine of Alpine Skier

This is an extraordinary example of Herend (Hungary) porcelain! This is a RARE figurine of a male skier. It is in superb condition with no damages. It is approximately 15" x 13". Older Herend figurines like this one are extremely rare and even rarer to find one that has survived WWII and the occupation of Hungary undamaged! This vintage piece was never sold directly in the U.S. It was made specifically for the European marketplace. On the upper part of the snow surface is an impressed signature of the artist. The snow is done in a matte finish while the skis have a glossier finish. Cleverly done.
