Antique Oil Painting of Violin Player

This oil painting is quite old (19th century) and in its original frame. Both have taken a beating. The frame is chipped in places and pieces glued back on. Looks pretty good though. The painting has a very dark varnish and has been relined. A few missing flecks of paint too. However, all those conditions aside, the subject matter and size are terrific. If the painting, which is very well executed (not a master, but certainly an experienced artist) is signed, the signature is not readily evident either because of the varnish or perhaps hidden by the frame.
