Offered is a nice English sterling silver tablespoon in the Old English pattern, fully hallmarked for London, 1896. There is also a clear maker's mark that I haven't researched. Offered is a piece one doesn't often see in the United States - a late 18th Century (ca. 1790-1800) orange spoon (a Dutch specialty) made by Diederik Willem Rethmeyer, working in Amsterdam circa 1785-1811. I am told the style of this piece makes the last decade of the 18th Century the most likely span of manufacture, though the date could be a little earlier or later. This piece measures about 5 5/16 inches in length and weighs about 12 grams. It has stylized crossed laurels or similar decora...

NOT FOR SALE
For your consideration is an interesting late 18th Century style American coin silver spoon, marked "W (pellet) D". It is my assumption at least that this piece, which measures about 4 15/16 inches in length and weighs about 8 grams, is American. It does not feel Canadian or British Colonial to me, nor does it come across as Continental. The light weight, unusual shell-back decoration, small bowl size, mark and engraving to the handle indicate to me that it is probably American and quite poss...

Offered is an interesting early American coin silver teaspoon bearing the maker's mark L&B in large block letters. This piece dates to about 1810-20, and the squared shoulders and style of monogram would fit Philadelphia as well as inland PA, MD and VA. The best fit I can make for this mark is the partnership of Larit (Laret) & Brechemin of Philadelphia, working circa 1816-18; it an attribution based on a sample size of one, but perhaps has a basis. This teaspoon measures about 5 3/8 inches i...

This piece measures about six inches in length and weighs about 25 grams. It is quite sturdy. Condition is excellent, with...

Offered is an extremely rare early American watch paper for Savannah, GA clock and watch maker James M. Jones, working circa 1825-50 in that city. Mr. Jones was also an active member of the community and a Lieutenant in the Chatham Artillery; he took part in the defense of Jacksonville in This watch paper was engraved by George W. Teubner of New York, who flourished between 1832 and 1845, so it is likely the watch paper dates to that specific period, probably on the earlier end. Please take a...

Offered is a good and scarce pair of American coin silver table spoons from Hagerstown, Maryland. Some consider silver from Maryland towns like Hagerstown to be Southern coin silver due to the sympathies of many of the inhabitants. These spoons bear the maker's mark of Thomas Alexander Boullt (1818-1876), a well-known Hagerstown silversmith, jeweler, watchmaker and clockmaker. Take a look at all the pictures In the latter part of his long (1846-70s) career, Boullt was advertising as a jeweler a...

Offered is a nice Scottish provincial silver spoon by jeweler and silversmith John Pringle, working in Perth circa 1823-60. This piece probably dates to the earlier part of Pringle's career. Please take a look at all the photos. This piece measures about 5 7/16 inches in length and weighs about 14 grams. Con...

Offered is a lovely and well-preserved English sterling silver master butter knife or cheese knife, hallmarked for London, 1834-35 and with a maker's mark of JW in script, probably for John James Whiting. Offered is a nice early crested Georgian English sterling silver sauce or gravy ladle by noted London silversmith Richard Crossley, fully hallmarked for 1782. The armorial is of what appears to be a lion's paw emerging from a coronet and grasping an escallop (scallop shell); I've not researched the armorial to determine the family, but it is probably traceable. This piece measures about 6 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 52 grams. Condition is fair to good overall, with some surface wear...

Offered is a lovely and scarce American coin silver serving piece bearing the maker's mark of George C. Shreve, working in San Francisco from about 1852 on. This piece appears to be a buckwheat or tomato server, but I am happy to be corrected if this piece had a different purpose. This server measures about 8 inches in length and weighs about 56 grams. It is decorated with a period Gothic initial "C" and clearly marked. The engraving on this piece is excellent and highly decorative. Conditi...

Offered is an interesting and unusual early 18th Century Brittania standard English silver tablespoon hallmarked for London, and what appears to be the year 1715 or so. The maker's mark is poorly struck but looks like it may be "Sc", which would make it likely the maker is William Scarlett, specialist spoonmaker of London working in this period. Scarlett was prolific and experimented with form, so that would make sense. This spoon has a very unusual midrib that branches out into almost a diam...

Offered is a lovely early American coin silver spoon in the coffin-end pattern marked WILLARD, probably for a silversmith named A. Willard who may have worked in Utica.
