Pair of Master Salt Spns by Parry & Musgrave Ca.1792-95
Offered is a very fine early American coin silver pair of master salt spoons by the short-lived partnership of Rowland Parry and James Musgrave, working in Philadelphia as Parry & Musgrave from 1792 to 1795. Silver bearing their mark is uncommon. These spoons are a very good example of an 18th century form, and are quite scarce from this era in American silver. Each bears the partnership's mark of P&M, and each has period engraved script monogram of RP to the front and a slightly later but still early monogram to the back. Each spoon measures about 4 1/2 inches in length, and the pair weighs a combined 24 grams. Condition is very good, with some moderate surface wear, but no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a fine example of early American coin silver salt spoons!
