Offered is a fine American coin silver teaspoon bearing the mark of Easton, Pennsylvania jeweler William Bixler, circa 1840. The spoon is marked W.BIXLER in a rectangle, and is also marked with a manufacturer's mark. William Bixler (b. 1793 - d. 1848) was the son of the famous Easton clockmaker Christian Bixler, and apprentice and then successor to his father. This is the first piece I've seen with William Bixler's mark. This spoon measures about 5 13/16 inches in length and weighs about 16 grams. Condition is fair, with some surface and tip wear and some dimples and dings to the bowl, but no splits or repairs. There is a period engraved script monogram, and the marks are clear. A fine Easton spoon!
