Mint Philadelphia Coin Silver Tablespoon by William Faber, Circa 1840
Offered is a gorgeous American coin silver tablespoon by Philadelphia silversmith William Faber, working circa 1828-56. This spoon probably dates to about 1828-40, and is in flawless condition, with minimal wear from normal use and no dents, splits or repairs. It bears a crisp, clear maker's mark and a town mark of PHILAD - the marks on this spoon were used in the book "Philadelphia Silversmiths" by Cathy Hollan. This piece also features an engraved period script monogram of JCR. It measures about 9 inches in length and weighs about 54 grams. All in all a very fine example of a Philadelphia coin silver fiddle pattern serving spoon!
