Fine English Georgian Sterling Wine Label Circa 1806 - Madeira
Offered is a fine and useful English sterling silver wine label or bottle ticket made in the Georgian era, and hallmarked apparently for 1806 and probably London. The maker's mark is partially rubbed, but appears to be ?S over ?B. This piece is made to be used to denote Madeira wine, from the Portuguese island. It measures about 1 3/4 inches wide and weighs about 8 grams. Condition is very good overall, with a very slight ripple to one side that is difficult to discern. All in all a lovely piece for the collector or as a gift!
