Offered is a rare example of the work of Frankford (in NE Philadelphia) clock and watch maker and silversmith Samuel Huckel (b. 1798 - d. 1883). This teaspoon by style should date to the early part of Huckel's career, circa 1818-30. His silver flatware is very hard to find, and the mark on this spoon was used for the book "Philadelphia Silversmiths" by Catherine Hollan. This piece measures about 5 11/16 inches in length and weighs about 16 grams. It has a good clear maker's mark and features a period engraved script monogram. Condition is fair, with a slight ripple in the handle and some tip wear and dings to the bowl, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of a rare mark!
