Fine Fiddle Pattern Coin Silver Teaspoon by John Fries of Philadelphia
Offered is a very good American coin silver teaspoon by Philadelphia silversmith John Fries, who was working in that city from about 1830 to 1858 or later. This piece has a good clear maker's mark and a well-executed period engraved script monogram. It measures about 5 15/16 inches in length and weighs about 14 grams. Condition is good, with only modest wear from normal use but with some minor scratches to the end of the underside of the handle. There are no splits or repairs. All in all a fine coin silver teaspoon ready for day-to-day use!
