Offered is a nice American coin silver salt spoon by Philadelphia silversmith Jacob Stockman, working alone and in partnership circa 1819 to 1850 as a silversmith and pencil and thimble maker, and from 1850-55 as a pencil-maker and jeweler. This spoon probably dates to the 1832-50 period by style; Stockman was working alone during this period and produced much of his work then. This piece bears a rubbed but legible maker's mark and a period engraved script monogram. It measures about 3 3/4 inches in length and weighs about 6 grams. Condition is good, with some surface wear but no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a good early American silver salt spoon!
