Offered is a nice pair of Southern coin silver spoons bearing the mark of James T. Scott & Co., working in Wheeling, Virginia and later West Virginia circa the mid 1850s through the late 1860s. Mr. Scott and his partners seem to have mostly retailed silver made by James Watts in Philadelphia, and these spoons bear one of Watts' manufacturer's marks. In my other listings on the site, I have several other spoons, with different monograms but also found around Wheeling, with James T. Scott & Co.'s mark. This pair of teaspoons measures about 5 7/8 inches in length and weighs about 34 grams altogether. Each spoon bears clear marks and a period engraved script owner's name of "C. J. Fox" - I would imagine the original owner might appear in Wheeling city directories and could be tracked down. These spoons are in very good condition with only modest wear, a few tiny dings to the bowls but no major dents and no splits or repairs. All in all a fine pair of West Virginia coin silver spoons!
