Offered is a nice George III English sterling silver fish server fully hallmarked for London, 1802 and made by a maker using the mark SI or IS. This piece has a nice period engraved armorial of a rooster and clear, well-struck marks. It measures just a little under 12 inches in length and weighs about 128 grams. Condition is fair, as it has some surface wear from a lot of polishing (though not a machine buffing, at least in the recent past), probably from someone using a little to much elbow grease. For the same reason, there is a slight sense of waviness on the blade side of the slice, though this is mostly noticed in a raking light. The piercing has one tiny fissure which does not affect the integrity of the piece. All in all a great authentic 200+ year-old fish slice with a cool family crest, ready for day-to-day use!
