Offered is a nice American coin silver long-handled salt spoon or condiment spoon, circa 1810-30, marked D.OLIVER in a rectangular punch. This mark is attributed by Ensko to a Daniel Oliver of Philadelphia, circa 1805, but Hollan was unable to uncover any objective evidence supporting this attribution for her book "Philadelphia Silversmiths". Nonetheless, the mark on this spoon was included in the book for discussion purposes. I have not been able to locate any additional information on this piece as yet.

This condiment spoon has an engraved period script monogram and a legible maker's mark. It measures about 4 3/4 inches in length and weighs about 6 grams. Condition overall is fair, with some dings and dents in the bowl but no splits or repairs. All in all a fine example of a rare maker's mark!
