Offered is a Philadelphia coin silver teaspoon bearing the die-struck wreath decoration pioneered and probably controlled by the Fries family of silversmiths, but occasionally seen on spoons bearing the marks of other Philadelphia firms. This one is marked by Lewis Ladomus and probably dates to the 1850s. This piece measures just under 6 inches in length and weighs about 16 grams. Condition is poor in that the bowl has a split (see pictures) and is out of round. However, given the decoration it is worth keeping this one out of the melting pot. All in all a nice example of this uniquely Philadelphia decoration!
