Offered is a superb set of six early American coin silver spoons by Philadelphia silversmith William Long, working from about 1807-22. Mr. Long left few items bearing his mark, which is an interesting shape and quite nice. These spoons are well made and each is decorated with an engraved period script monogram and a clear mark. They probably date to around 1810 by style but could date to any part of Mr. Long's relatively short career. These spoons measure about 5 15/16 inches in length on average and the set weighs a total of about 94 grams. Condition is very good given they date back about two centuries; there are no notable dents and no splits or repairs. All in all a very fine set by a desirable maker!
