SOLD

Offered is a very nice late 18th Century coin silver tablespoon by well-known NY silversmith William Roe (b. 1743 - d. 1830), working circa 1776-1800 in Albany, in partnership in Kingston circa 1800-05, in Troy from circa 1805-25, and then in New York City circa 1825 to his death in 1830. By style, this piece should date to the 1790s, but could be a few years earlier or later. This piece bears Mr. Roe's maker's mark (one of several he used over a very long career), and a sheaf of wheat pseudo-hallmark or trademark. This spoon measures about 9 1/8 inches in length and weighs about 58 grams. Condition is good overall, with moderate wear from normal use but no major dents and no splits or repairs. Please take a look at all the pictures, and see my other items for a set of four decorated 18th Century coin silver tablespoons with the same monogram and from the same family. All in all a fine early Albany coin silver tablespoon!
