Offered is a very fine crested fiddle pattern Georgian English sterling silver soup ladle, by a maker using the mark WC (perhaps William Chawner), fully hallmarked for London, 1824. This piece measures about 13 inches in length and weighs a heavy 185 grams, or around 6 troy ounces. The armorial is of a mailed arm wielding a dagger, with a flower? emerging from the tip. An interesting motif! Condition on this piece is excellent, with a good surface and little wear, and only the most minor scuffs and bumps - no dents worth noting and no splits or repairs. All in all a fine example of the form!
