Offered is an interesting early American coin silver teaspoon or coffee spoon that by style appears to date to the 1750-70 timeframe; the maker's mark ends with an "E" that looks an awful lot like one of Samuel Edwards' marks, but I can't make out the first letter. The outline of the mark is right for Samuel Edwards as well, but the drop on the spoon is different from those I've seen used by Edwards. So, probably a different maker. Does anyone have a theory? This piece is engraved with block initials RK, and they appear to be period. This spoon measures about 4 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 8 grams. Condition is fair at best with some bends in the stem and significant surface wear, but there are no splits and no obvious repairs. All in all an interesting piece!
