Offered is a nice American coin silver teaspoon by noted silversmith George Franciscus, who began his career in Baltimore around 1800, but who moved to Lancaster by about 1819, working there for the rest of his career, until about 1840. This piece can be confidently ascribed to Franciscus' Lancaster period, both by style and by the fact that it came with a number of other pieces from the local Lancaster area. This bears a rubbed but legible maker's mark and a period engraved script monogram. It measures about 5 1/2 inches in length and weighs about 10 grams. Condition is good overall, with a dimple or two, and some surface wear, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of Lancaster coin silver!
