Offered is an excellent early American coin silver dessert spoon by noted Lancaster, PA silversmith William Haverstick, Sr. (1756-1823), circa 1790-1800. Although many teaspoons by William Haverstick Sr. and Jr. (who used the same mark) have been observed, and a fair number of tablespoons, dessert spoons are much more rare. This particular piece measures about 7 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 35 grams. It is graced with a very well executed period script engraved monogram of "AC" and has a clear maker's mark. Condition on this piece is excellent, with virtually no wear and no dents, splits or repairs. All in all an excellent example of late 18th Century or very early 19th Century Lancaster coin silver!
