Offered is an interesting fiddle pattern American coin silver teaspoon with a faded period engraved script monogram, and a maker's mark of J.HARTT. This mark has been tentatively ascribed to Judah Hart(t), who spent most of his working life in Connecticut, and then moved to Brownhelm, Ohio in 1822. Judah Hart died in Brownhelm in 1824 and is buried there. It is possible this spoon was made in Ohio, and it certainly dates to the late period in Mr. Hart(t)'s career. This piece measures about 6 inches in length and weighs about 13 grams. Condition is fair, with surface wear and some dings to the bowl. All in all an interesting example of this mark!
