SOLD

Offered is a good pair of early American coin silver table spoons by noted New York City silversmith Garret Forbes (1785-1851), who worked primarily from about 1805 to about 1820. These spoons each have a very clear maker's mark (see pics) and a finely engraved period script monogram. The spoons each measure about 8 3/4 inches in length and the pair weighs a total of about 110 grams. Condition is good overall, with a slightly bright but not machine-buffed surface, and a minor waviness in the side of one bowl, but no splits or repairs evident. All in all a nice example of this maker's mark!
