Offered is a interesting American coin silver cream or sauce ladle by Constant Southworth (a rare mark by a little-known maker). Mr. Southworth was born in 1802 in Sheffield, Massachusetts, and married there in 1823. By 1830 he was working about 6 1/2 miles away in Great Barrington, continuing there until after 1850. He died in 1876.

This piece measures about 6 3/8 inches in length and weighs about 23 grams. Condition is fair, as there is no monogram and the piece was likely buffed at some point, though not recently. There are minor dings but no splits or repairs. The maker's mark is an excellent strike. All in all a nice usable example of this man's work!
