SOLD

Offered is an excellent Southern coin silver teaspoon in the fiddlethread pattern, bearing only a maker's mark for George MacPherson, working in Natchez circa 1843-71. Most of the silver sold by MacPherson was made by Wood & Hughes, but some pieces found in Natchez bear only MacPherson's mark, as with this piece; the theory is that such pieces could have been made locally. This spoon measures about 5 7/8 inches in length and weighs a heavy 33 grams. Condition is very good overall, with minimal wear, a legible maker's mark, and a period engraved script monogram. All in all a fine example of Natchez coin silver!
