Offered is a nice fill-in piece of Hanoverian pattern English sterling silver flatware; in this case a tablespoon measuring about 8 1/4 inches length and weighing about 31 grams. There date letter and lion passant marks are clear; the other two are not, though one could be a castle. This could indicate manufacture outside of London, but only London's date marks seem to contemplate one like the one on this piece. This spoon is not engraved and if a monogram was erased it must halfway done. Condition on this piece is fair at best as there is a small dimple in the bowl and the stem was probably the subject of a well-done repair. Nonetheless, this is a nice early spoon that could help to make up a harlequin set, or could simple be a daily use piece. All in all a nice example of the form!
