Offered is a very fine and earlier American coin silver cream pitcher by noted Philadelphia silversmith Robert Swan, working circa 1799-1817. This piece by style probably dates to around 1805-10. It is not a commonly seen style relative to earlier and later styles, and it has a nice presence to it. There is no engraving or sign of erasure in terms of monograms or family crests. The maker's mark used by Robert Swan is struck once inside the foot. This piece measures about 6 13/16 inches high and weighs about 169 grams. Condition is good overall, with a repair to the upper handle (see pic) as is often the case with this form, and with scattered small dings and dimples. The foot is slightly dinged, but there are no splits and no major issues. All in all a lovely example of Philadelphia coin silver hollowware dating back more than two centuries!
