Offered is a lovely pair of heavy French silver table spoons in the fiddlethread and shell pattern, made in Paris between 1819 and 1838 by silversmith Louis-Victor Lenain, working between 1836 and about 1866. These spoons have Lenain's maker's mark and the Paris first standard (950/1000) fineness mark used between 1819 and 1838, as well as a guarantee mark. These pieces are not engraved, but were likely engraved with a monogram to the reverse at one time. Condition is good overall, with no dents, splits or repairs. These spoons each measure about 8 1/2 inches in length, and the pair weighs a total of about 163 grams, or more than five troy ounces. All in all a fine pair to help build a service in this pattern, or to use as a pair of serving spoons at the table!
