$35.00

Offered is a very good and heavy American coin silver teaspoon with die-struck sheaf-of-wheat decoration to the handle, surmounting a period engraved script monogram. This piece is struck with the maker's mark of G.MECUM in a serrated punch, for George Mecum, working in Boston circa 1825-46. This piece probably dates to the 1820s. It measures about 6 1/16 inches in length and weighs a very heavy 23 grams or so. Condition is very good overall, with a tiny and very shallow ding in the bowl and light surface wear, but no major dents and no splits or repairs. All in all a fine piece, and an excellent example of the form!
