Offered is a lovely pair of American coin silver teaspoons by Poplar Ridge, New York silversmith T. P. Cranson, about whom little seems to be known. By the style of a few pieces observed, he seems to have worked in the 1820s through perhaps the 1840s. These teaspoons have legible maker's marks, and have a the great addition of a town mark for Poplar Ridge. Please review all the photos. There are no monograms, but there probably was an erasure at one point, as the spatulate end of the front of the handle seems a bit brighter than the reverse side. These spoons measure about six inches in length and weigh a total of about 40 grams. Aside from the erasure, condition overall is quite good, with minimal wear from normal use, no notable dents, and no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of a scarce maker's mark!
