SOLD

Offered is a very useful American coin silver table fork, measuring about seven inches in length and weighing about 42 grams, circa 1840-60. This piece is probably a dessert or salad fork given the size, and is Philadelphia in style (pointed shoulders, general proportions, etc.), and probably manufactured there. This piece is marked only COIN and was likely intended to get a jeweler's or other retailer's mark added, but for whatever reason that either never happened, or it was struck so lightly it has rubbed off. This piece is graced with a well executed period script monogram. Condition on this piece is good overall, with moderate tine wear from left-handed use, and modest surface wear consistent with age. This piece would be a good addition to an assembled canteen. All in all a nice useful early American silver fork!
