Offered is a lovely and scarce Chinese Export Silver (CES) spoon by Canton silversmith Wong Shing or Wongshing, working circa 1820-60. This piece was made for the English market, and has a typical English fiddle-pattern shape, as well as a period engraved script monogram. The maker's mark for Wong Shing and his pseudo-hallmarks are all well-struck. This piece measures about 5 1/2 inches in length and weighs a heavy 26 grams, typical of CES pieces. Condition overall is good, with some wear and minor dings or signs of use, but with no major dents and no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of export silver for use or display!
