SOLD

Offered is a lovely pair of American coin silver teaspoons by little-known Carlisle jeweler and silversmith Thomas Conlyn, who may have worked a bit in Philadelphia after finishing his apprenticeship with Charles Canby of Delaware, but who is known primarily as a Carlisle silversmith. This pair of spoons is nicely engraved "CAG" in period script, and each spoon has a great strike of Conlyn's maker's mark, as well as a leaf-type journeyman's mark or pseudo-hallmark. Conlyn's work is quite uncommon. These teaspoons measure about 5 7/8 inches in length and weigh a total of about 33 grams. Condition is very good overall, with minimal surface wear, a few small dings to the bowls and no splits or repairs. All in all a very nice example of this rare mark from a Carlisle silversmith!
