Offered is a lovely example of the work of Pennsylvania silversmith John D. Haverstick, a member of the celebrated Haverstick family of silversmiths. John D. Haverstick was working in Lancaster circa 1805-09; in Carlisle circa 1809-25; and in Erie after 1825. This probably dates to the Carlisle period, but could be a late Lancaster piece. It is a finless fiddle pattern teaspoon with a a well-struck and clear maker's mark and a period engraved script monogram of "SA", done in a distinctive style associated with Haverstick. This piece measures about 5 3/4 inches in length and weighs about 13 grams. Condition is excellent with minimal wear, no notable dings, and no splits or repairs. All in all a splendid example of this man's work!
