Offered is a very fine and scarce small coin silver spoon, measuring just a little under four inches in length. This is larger than a child's or dollhouse spoon, yet significantly smaller than a tea or coffee spoon. As such, it seems to be a true coin silver demitasse spoon. This piece is engraved with a period script monogram, and a gift monogram that seems to be very much of the same period. It may have been done all at once. The maker's mark is for the Boston firm of Davis, Palmer & Co. (flourished circa 1838-45), which was headed by Thomas Aspinwall Davis until his death in 1845. Condition on this piece is very good, with little to no wear to the tip or surface, and no dents, splits or repairs. There is a very slight wave in the narrow portion of the handle, which can only be seen in a raking light, and doesn't interfere with the use or display of this piece. Please scroll through all of the photos. All in all a fine and useful American coin silver spoon for the service of tea!
