Offered is an estate-fresh large pair of 10" turned brass push-up candlesticks, probably circa 1825-50, and so a bit earlier than the typical beehive style brass candlesticks of the 19th century. These are not cleaned up and have a pleasing patina and overall presentation. They are a bit more squat and massive than later candlesticks, and have rectangular bases. There are no markings of any kind, but they are most likely English, with perhaps a possibility of being American. The interior of the bases look hand-done and have good patina. Condition overall is good, consistent with lots of use as with most of these sticks. There are the usual minor repairs and one ejector rod is missing its disk, a common state. The ejector rods are frozen place at this time, but perhaps could be loosened with a thorough cleaning. The dark area where one base meets the column is not a repair but rather grime. Please take a look at all of the pictures. All in all a lovely pair for the holidays!
