Offered is a good example of the work of little-known Massachusetts silversmith Sylvanus Bramhall, working in Plymouth circa 1790 to the 1820s, and then in Boston for the final few years of his life. This ladle has a very well-struck and clear maker's mark and also has a period engraved script monogram. This sauce ladle measures about 6 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 23 grams. Condition is good overall aside from one issue - some stubborn spots of tarnish or corrosion the bowl (see pictures). There are no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a choice example of this uncommon maker's mark!
